Last year we started a new and fun tradition here at Six Points with our "Living Cross." This isn't a new idea, other churches do this as well, but it was new to us and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We took a cross we already had from over at the shelter and on Easter we encouraged our congregation to bring flowers (real or fake) and add them to the cross by sticking them into the chicken wire mesh we put around it.
The cross turns into a beautiful bouquet of flowers, representing the new life that Jesus brings (and in a side benefit, it makes our whole church smell wonderful!). I love the symbolism of seeing children and adults come together, each bringing something small (a simple flower from their yard or from the store) and joining them together to create something so beautiful. This Sunday we will once again create our living cross in the Lobby. I encourage you to bring a few flowers (if you forget, we will have some on hand as well so everyone can participate) and watch as our cross turns into a living representation of the new life that Christ offers to us all and the resurrection that he displayed on that first Easter Sunday so many years ago. Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed! Oh, and I encourage you to take one more step this Easter...invite a friend, neighbor, co-worker or family member to join you Easter Sunday. Statistics tell us that 82% of people would go to church on Easter if they were invited. Are you willing to take that step of faith and be an inviter? Our service is at 10 am and all are welcome at Six Points. Step out in faith this Easter and invite someone to join you, it might just change their life forever! In Christ, Pastor Scott
